AI expansion for inforum
How JAWA deploys artificial intelligence where it actually makes a difference in everyday work
JAWA is expanding its management software inforum with end-to-end AI capabilities. The focus is on tangible benefit: AI is designed to relieve users of recurring routine tasks, freeing up more time for the work that actually matters. The functionality was developed on the basis of real-world customer requirements.
While many software vendors treat artificial intelligence primarily as a sales argument, JAWA is deliberately taking a different approach. The AI capabilities in the management platform inforum did not emerge from a trend, but from concrete use cases in practice.
“We are deliberately not early adopters who jump on every trend only to drop most of it shortly after, because it doesn’t hold up in everyday use. What matters to us is that a feature works reliably in a regulated environment and genuinely relieves users of recurring routine tasks,” says Markus Petelinc, CTO at JAWA.
This mindset shapes the latest developments in inforum. The platform, which supports manufacturing companies in managing their processes end to end, is used in highly regulated environments, including the automotive sector and mechanical and plant engineering, where standards such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 place stringent requirements on traceability and documentation. In these industries, what counts is not what is technically possible, but what remains traceable and controllable. The AI functionality in inforum is built around exactly that principle.
AI that thinks within the process context
An AI assistant accompanies users through the platform within their respective process context. On request, it provides a content summary of processes, audits, or open actions, and displays the current status at a glance. When working on specific tasks, such as creating a complaint, the assistant also identifies similar cases. In this way, inforum makes existing organizational knowledge available so that solutions do not have to be developed from scratch. AI takes over recurring work precisely where it arises, relieving users in their day-to-day work.
Access via Microsoft Copilot
Microsoft Copilot is already in use at many organizations. Through the integration with inforum, users can quickly retrieve information from inforum using a familiar tool they already know, such as open tasks, findings from an audit, or content from the process map. Only content the user is authorized to access in inforum is displayed.
Hours become minutes
The greatest leverage comes from AI-assisted process modeling. From a document template, a diagram, or a simple text description of a process with numerous steps, the AI generates a complete process model in accordance with the BPMN 2.0 standard in two to three minutes, including metadata and a RASCI matrix that clearly assigns roles and responsibilities. What previously required several hours of manual work is now available as a first draft within minutes. Subject-matter authority remains with the human: every AI-generated draft is reviewed and only adopted after approval. This “human in the loop” principle is a mandatory requirement and provides a structured basis for further alignment with the relevant departments.
Efficiency that pays off
The economic benefit does not come from individual features, but from how they work together on a shared platform. Where processes run end to end rather than across separate point solutions, coordination effort and costs decrease and AI amplifies this effect further.
“Our customers achieve measurable efficiency gains with inforum because their processes run end to end rather than in point solutions, and this benefits not only large corporations but particularly mid-sized companies as well. With AI, we are taking this potential to the next level: tasks that previously required significant manual effort are completed in a fraction of the time, and that gain becomes immediately measurable,” says Bernd Markfelder, CEO of JAWA.
